The Reign of the Warlock expansion has widened Diablo 2's late-game loot hunt and made a decades-old easter egg suddenly very useful. Known as the "souls dance" or "dance of the ghosts," it triggers when four wisp enemies are left alive and begin tracing letters with lightning.

Those letters nod to developers David Brevik, Erich Schaefer, and Max Schaefer, and the lightshow grants a hidden 19-hour buff that dramatically raises a character's magic find beyond what ordinary items can provide. That massive magic find spike noticeably improves chances for top-tier drops.

Pavke notes latent sunder charms have a 1 in 1,295 drop chance with zero magic find and a 1 in 387 chance with the roughly 4,200 magic find the easter egg can provide. Players hunting heralds in terrorized acts can keep the buff active while killing bosses, letting some of the rarest items stack up on the ground, and YouTuber MacroBioBoi demonstrates the trick is not hard to perform.
