A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency return to San Antonio International Airport after crews reported smoke in one of the aircraft’s engines following takeoff on Feb. 3. The Airbus A320, operating as Delta flight 1676 to Atlanta, took off around 10:52 a.m. and landed back at SAT at 11:15 a.m. local time.

Air traffic control audio captured a pilot reporting a fire indication on engine number two that "went away when we pulled it to idle." San Antonio Fire Department crews responded to a report of smoke and requested assistance from neighboring stations as a precaution.

Delta said there were no injuries among the 136 customers and six crew members on board and that passengers were reaccommodated on alternative flights. The FAA confirmed it will investigate, and airport officials said the flight was not an emergency landing and that SAFD found no indication of fire.
