Antoine Fuqua is reuniting with Denzel Washington on a Netflix film about Hannibal, the Carthaginian general who fought Rome in the Second Punic War. Production on the project is set to begin this June. Robert Richardson will serve as director of photography; his credits include Platoon, Casino, the Kill Bill movies, and Once Upon a Time...

in Hollywood. Richardson won Academy Awards for his cinematography on JFK, The Aviator, and Hugo. The screenplay is by John Logan, whose work includes Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo, and Skyfall. Much of the top-level talent have collaborated before. Fuqua and Washington have worked together on Training Day, the 2016 remake of The Magnificent Seven, and The Equalizer films.

Richardson teamed with Fuqua on The Equalizer 3 and the 2022 historical drama Emancipation, and Logan wrote Fuqua's Michael Jackson biopic Michael, due out in theaters on April 24.
