Developer explains differences between Half Sword demo and early access
Medieval duelling simulator Half Sword was a hit during last October's Steam Next Fest, where its goofy, grisly tech demo was the showcase's most popular playable snippet. That demo’s elastic, haphazard duels — in which weapons could be as much a threat to yourself as to an opponent — helped build a large audience, but the game's early access launch has prompted a divided response, described in the reporting as being "as divided as a human skull when struck by a Zweihander." The developers emphasise the demo was created to showcase the early core mechanics and "was not intended to represent the final version of the game." They add the current implementation likewise doesn't represent the finished product: combat balance and weapon handling will continue to evolve as new features are added, and those additions will naturally require further adjustments.
