Many developers said they were surprised by Nvidia's DLSS 5 reveal, with reactions ranging from support to alarm. Bethesda boss Todd Howard and Capcom executive Jun Takeuchi voiced support, while others described being anxious, disgusted, or blindsided. An unnamed developer at Ubisoft said they found out at the same time as the public; Assassin's Creed Shadows was one of the games shown to demonstrate DLSS 5.

Developers at Capcom told Insider Gaming they were shocked by the announcement, noting Capcom had historically been "anti-AI." The Resident Evil Requiem shot of Grace Ashcroft drew heavy criticism; Tyler Wilde argued it "clearly overwrites game characters with AI beauty standards." Jensen Huang has insisted developers retain "artistic control," a position echoed by Bethesda, but the question of who decides remains.
