World of Warcraft’s Demon Hunter gains a third specialization, the Devourer, tied to the Midnight expansion and already available in game. The spec fits the expansion’s Void theme and presents a different mid-range caster fantasy compared with the class’s melee Havoc and Vengeance roles.

Its signature effects, including a Void Ray transformation, are visually striking, but the combat design is frequently described as repetitive. The Devourer is highly reliant on a single spell, Consume, to generate resources, leaving players spamming that ability for long stretches and producing a limited rotation.

Higher-level options such as Voidfall and Void Metamorphosis create brief windows of variety, but they do not fully change the underlying rhythm. The Devourer’s role and feel overlap with the Evoker, another mobile mid-range caster, a similarity that has prompted questions about whether the roster needs another class niche.
