The Department of Homeland Security has temporarily shut down TSA PreCheck and Global Entry expedited lanes at US airports, effective Sunday at 6 am ET, after a partial government shutdown left the department without funding. Social media posts showed some PreCheck lanes still operating after the 6 am cutoff at airports including Minneapolis, Washington, DC, and Orlando.

Passengers with active memberships can still fly but will be funneled into standard security or immigration lines, and the closures are expected to significantly increase wait times. CLEAR, a privately run expedited checkpoint, appears to remain operating. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the agency is "making tough but necessary workforce and resource decisions" and is prioritizing the "general traveling population" at airports.

She added, "Without appropriations, TSA simply cannot afford to risk overstretching our staff and weakening our security posture." The lanes will reopen once the agency secures funding.
