The Lord of Hatred expansion will reintroduce low-level loot into Diablo 4's endgame, but with a twist: those items will have a chance to drop with greater affixes, something currently only possible on legendary gear.

Right now, basic loot such as common, magic and rare items largely stop dropping late in the game to make way for higher-level orange gear, which contrasts with blue, white and yellow items. That creates a fairly uniform look when you’re running high-level dungeons.

The change moves Diablo 4 closer to a Diablo 2–style ethos, where low-level gear still appears in the endgame and can be used to make something much more powerful. Diablo 4 will operate on a similar idea, although the finer details are different; Lord of Hatred launches on April 28.
