Real item crafting is finally coming to Diablo 4. Inspired by Diablo 2's crafting, the game will get its own version of the Horadric Cube, "which is basically the dark fantasy version of a magical crafting table." You put items into it and better items come out, and there will be recipes for different outcomes, such as combining three of the same uniques into a new one.

The biggest change is how loot will work to support the cube. Low-tier items that used to fade away as you leveled will return, and any item can drop with a supercharged "greater affix"—something only legendaries can have now. You can then drop those items into the cube and upgrade them into legendaries.

"We feel like the game just feels a lot more hollow now where you just don't really see anything except orange beams," a developer said.
