Playing the new warlock at Blizzard HQ left me thinking about the rest of Diablo 4's roster. Lord of Hatred adds two new classes and a major refresh to the other six, and the warlock was the first clear glimpse of what this next era might look like—making me want to create characters and experiment.

The warlock feels like a different kind of summoner. Rather than commanding skeletons, it tears open portals and drags demons out of hell to use as weapons. Skills such as Wall of Agony fuse writhing demons into an impenetrable barricade, Fiend of Abaddon summons a gigantic cleaving demon, and the class can even transform into or ride a demon, leaving lava landmines in its wake.

I enjoyed the occult side as much as the savagery. Dread Claws carves through enemies with smoke blades, and abyss skills focus on debuffs and a shadowform that amplifies attacks.
