Diane Warren has 17 Oscar nominations and no wins
Diane Warren set a record for the longest losing streak in Academy Awards history after losing her 17th bid for best original song at the 2026 Oscars, when "Golden," the hit from Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters," secured the award. "Well at least I'm consistent! And I set a new record tonite!!" Warren wrote on social media.
She is now the most-nominated person in history to have never won a competitive Oscar and is the most-nominated woman in the category's history. Warren, who has also written pop hits with stars like Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, and Cher, trails Johnny Mercer (18) and Sammy Cahn (26); of the three, only Warren has never won the award.
Her 17 nominated songs span from "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" from "Mannequin" (1987) through "Dear Me" from "Diane Warren: Relentless" (2025), and include songs performed by Celine Dion, Aerosmith, Lady Gaga, Becky G, and Kesha. "I'm consistent as fuck," Warren told Variety in 2025 on the after-party red carpet.
