Diaz hat-trick as Kane scores twice in Bayern win over 10-man Hoffenheim
The match between two of the Bundesliga’s top three began at pace, with Aleksandar Pavlovic heading narrowly wide and Josip Stanisic making a crucial tackle. After 17 minutes Akpoguma was judged to have pulled back Diaz in the box and denied a goal-scoring opportunity; the referee and VAR upheld the decision and Kane converted the resulting penalty to put Bayern ahead.
Hoffenheim, reduced to ten men, battled back. Ozan Kabak saw a free header rebound off the crossbar and Kramaric had a snapshot saved by Manuel Neuer, but Neuer’s chipped pass was intercepted by Fisnik Allsani and he squared for the simplest of finishes for Kramaric to level in the 35th minute.
Bayern regained control before half-time as Diaz won a second penalty when Vladimir Coufal grabbed his leg on the by-line and Kane emphatically powered home the spot-kick. In first-half stoppage time Kane led a rapid counter-attack and played in Diaz, who stepped inside to slot the ball into the corner.
