District 9 Leaving Netflix on March 31
Before departing from Netflix on March 31, sci-fi fans have a shot at streaming what has become one of the most beloved original sci-fi films made in the last 20 years: Neill Blomkamp's District 9. The film follows a conflict in Johannesburg, South Africa, where an alien ship landed decades ago and humans have decided to segregate the extraterrestrials into a derelict area called District 9.
Wikus van de Merwe, an employee of Multinational United, is assigned to inform the aliens they will be relocated, but after coming into contact with an alien substance he begins to change and must seek help from Christopher, who plans to fix the ship and leave Earth.
Blomkamp's feature debut came after the cancellation of his Halo project and was expanded from his short Alive in Joburg with the support of Peter Jackson.
