The Division 2 drops to $3 after new Realism Mode and roadmap
The Division 2 is enjoying a mini-renaissance on Steam after a steep discount and a new roadmap laying out future content. An anniversary event added fresh rewards and a new Realism Mode that emphasizes headshots over gear score and feels more like a traditional shooter than an MMORPG.
Realism Mode is timed and only available in the Warlords of New York campaign. Developers say the mode reduces the interface to focus on reading the world, lets players recover ammo directly from defeated enemies, and lengthens skill cooldowns so skills are best saved for critical moments.
Gear and weapon bonuses will reflect weight, with heavier pieces trading mobility for protection and lighter gear favoring speed at the cost of survivability. The mode launches alongside a month-long battle pass with new rewards and special skins.
