The legend of Robin Hood has been reshaped many times — Kevin Costner turned it into a Western in the early 1990s and Ridley Scott later treated it like Gladiator. Hollywood then pursued a grittier, Black Hawk Down–style take that reached screens in 2018. That film, simply titled Robin Hood, starred Taron Egerton in the lead, with Jamie Foxx as John, Eve Hewson as Marian and Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Otto Bathurst made his feature directorial debut after work on Peaky Blinders, but the movie underperformed, grossing around $85 million worldwide against a reported $100 million budget, earning poor reviews and a 14% Rotten Tomatoes score, and failing to find an audience on home video.

The 2018 Robin Hood will debut on the Peacock streaming service on March 1.
