British Vogue is reporting on an emerging trend of "divorce rings": rings worn to mark and, in some cases, celebrate a separation. Physically similar to engagement or wedding rings, the pieces are presented as ideologically different — marking "unhitching" rather than a union. "It's fun rather than miserable," jewellery designer Annoushka Ducas told Vogue; Ducas hosts divorce-ring parties at her boutiques, inviting top divorce lawyers and their clients, and said there is "a lot of laughing and camaraderie … it's really about bringing a community together." Vogue traces the appetite in part to A-listers.

Emily Ratajkowski is cited as celebrating her divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard with two rings that incorporated the diamonds from her engagement ring. Vogue also spoke to jewellers making divorce rings and highlighted splitters, including a celebrity dermatologist, who have flashed their new pieces on social media.

Not everyone can or chooses to buy new jewellery: alternatives mentioned include raising the middle finger, embracing the internet idea called "DivorcedMomCore," tattoos — Jessica Alba reportedly got the words "life is transformation is life" after filing for divorce from husband Cash Warren — or divorce parties.
