DockFrame modular USB-C hub works with Framework expansion cards
Pcgamer reports the DockFrame is a USB-C hub with modular, swappable ports designed to work with the hot-swappable hardware standard used by Framework's expansion cards, though the project is not officially affiliated with Framework.
The DockFrame uses a custom PCB said to be compatible with any Framework USB-C modules as well as the hub's own "Tool Cards," which plan to offer functions beyond typical I/O such as voltage measuring and adjustable voltage output. A project update on January 17, 2026 said the developers are iterating on the PCB (power, routing and port behavior) and are incorporating community requirements into the specification. The article also notes Framework recently raised prices on its modular RAM upgrades and that Framework expansion cards can cost as little as $11.
The DockFrame is still in the prototyping and validation phase and is taking pre-orders to assess demand; there is currently no word on how much the hub itself will cost, so its affordability within the modular ecosystem remains unknown.
