Dog the Bounty Hunter's stepson arrested in fatal shooting of his child

Gregory Zecca, the stepson of Dog the Bounty Hunter, has been arrested on charges including aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence in connection with a fatal shooting in July 2025. Investigators with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office determined Zecca was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had consumed marijuana and alcohol before the incident.

Authorities say he repeatedly handled a firearm in the child’s presence, that a magazine was reinserted and a round chambered, and that a single shot fatally struck 13-year-old Anthony Zecca. Sheriff Kevin Rambosk described the case as “a heartbreaking and preventable tragedy,” and said detectives conducted an exhaustive investigation, examining witness statements, forensic testing, subpoenas, search warrants and other evidence.

Dog (Duane Chapman) and his wife, Francie Frane, previously asked for continued prayers as the family grieved.
