Fenerbahce head coach Domenico Tedesco has been hospitalised with a severe infection and will miss Wednesday's cup tie. The 40-year-old, who succeeded Jose Mourinho last September, is recovering from pneumonia at his home in Istanbul. Assistant coach Zeki Murat Gole will take temporary charge.

Tedesco was admitted earlier this week after contracting a severe respiratory illness. The club said the underlying cause was a sudden bout of pneumonia; he received urgent care, has been discharged and is continuing treatment at home, but remains unavailable for immediate first-team duties.

His absence explained why he missed last weekend's Super Lig clash with Antalyaspor, which ended in a 2-2 draw. With the Turkish Cup tie against Gaziantep imminent, Gole will lead the team while the backroom staff work to implement Tedesco's tactical plan. Fenerbahce’s medical personnel are monitoring his recovery and say he could potentially return soon, with the hope he might sit on the bench for the upcoming weekend fixture against Samsunspor.
