Don Lemon arrested in Los Angeles after covering Minnesota church protest, lawyer says
Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested late Thursday in Los Angeles, his lawyer said. The arrest came while he was in the city covering the Grammy Awards and follows his reporting on a protest at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lemon has said he was reporting as a journalist when he entered Cities Church on January 18, during a service that protesters interrupted. Protesters at the event said one of the church's pastors also worked for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In a statement, Lemon's lawyer said he was taken into custody by federal agents in Los Angeles. The lawyer added, "Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done," and said, "Don will fight these charges vigorously and thoroughly in court."
The Department of Justice could not immediately be reached for comment. The report did not specify what charges, if any, have been filed, and Business Insider called the situation a developing story.
