Donald Glover Is Playing Yoshi In Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Nintendo and Illumination held another Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct ahead of Mario Day, unveiling a new trailer and surprise cast appearances.

New additions to the sequel’s cast include Luiz Guzman as Wart, Issa Rae as the Honey Queen, and Donald Glover as Yoshi. Glover did not appear in the Direct like Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, and others, but Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri noted he is a big fan of Nintendo’s games.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming to theaters on April 1; the trailer was presented as the final one, though further casting news may still arrive since voices for Birdo and other characters remain unknown. The announcement also predicted a wave of memes and edits pairing Yoshi with Glover’s rap lyrics, even suggesting an animation of Yoshi rapping "Bonfire."
