DoorDash extends New York City delivery pause after blizzard
DoorDash extended its pause on operations in New York City until 2 pm Eastern time on Monday as the city digs out from a major snowstorm. The company had previously said the pause would last until noon.
New York City recorded 15 inches of snow after the blizzard, which also snarled flights and cut power to thousands. Grubhub, which also paused operations late Sunday, said just before noon on Monday that it was "currently operating in NYC after pausing overnight to keep couriers safe."
DoorDash's pause began at 8:30 pm ET on Sunday, shortly before Mayor Zohran Mamdani instituted a travel ban. The company activated its "Severe Weather Protocol," and a spokesperson said, "We're suspending operations early to keep Dashers safe and off the streets before the travel ban takes effect. We're closely monitoring conditions and will resume as soon as it's safe to do so."
