Drake Maye's three brothers forged their own collegiate sports careers
People reports that New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is the youngest of four brothers from Cornelius, N.C., and that his three older siblings — Luke, Cole and Beau — each pursued collegiate athletics.
The family grew up in Cornelius and attended William A. Hough High School before Maye transferred after his freshman year to Myers Park High School in Charlotte; he was named The Charlotte Observer's 2019 male athlete of the year. Their father, Mark, played football at North Carolina from 1983 to 1988. Luke played basketball for UNC from 2015 to 2019 and was part of the Tar Heels' 2017 national championship, including a game-winning Elite Eight shot with 0.3 seconds left. Cole enrolled early at the University of Florida after graduating high school in December 2016, debuted for the Gators baseball team in March 2017 and won an NCAA baseball title, according to Maye's UNC bio. Beau walked on to UNC's basketball team, recorded two rebounds during the 2022–23 season and did not return for 2023–24.
The brothers remain competitive and close — Maye described his older siblings as his 'best friends' and told ESPN that with three older brothers 'everything we're doing, we're trying to win.' They supported him at the 2024 NFL Draft, and Maye, who was drafted by the Patriots in 2024, is in his second NFL season and faces the Houston Texans on Jan. 18.
