Drew Russell stepped onto the stage for the March 9 episode of The Voice: Battle of Champions and chose Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou" for her Blind Audition. The 32-year-old artist had a shaky start but finished the emotional, country-pop number nearly perfectly, a performance that suited her powerful vocals.

She earned only a 1-Chair Turn from Adam Levine but drew praise from all three Coaches. Clarkson told her, "You picked one of the biggest songs with the biggest range ever, that's a huge song," and added, "To have that kind of fearlessness to go, 'I'm gonna go big or go home,' you know what I'm saying?" Levine called it, "That's a really ambitious song." John Legend said, "Your voice is so beautiful and it has such clarity, and it really feels good and sounds good." Before the audition, Russell said music has always been part of her life and that becoming a mother changed her career path.
