Drone expert warns next phase of Shahed attacks will focus on speed
Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an influential Ukrainian drone analyst recently appointed as an advisor to the defense ministry, warned the next phase of Russia's Shahed campaign will be driven by speed. He urged Ukraine's manufacturers to develop defenses against drones capable of reaching 370 mph, writing, "There is no need to become the 'one hundred and first' manufacturer of drones against the current Shaheds.
We need to work for the future." Interceptor drones—small uncrewed aerial systems designed to fly into the Kremlin's Gerans—have become a core pillar of Ukraine's air defense and cost around $2,500 to $6,000 each.
