Dropout picks up Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared in its first TV licensing deal
Comedy streamer Dropout has added Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared to its lineup. The original web shorts are available to stream now, and the six-episode TV series will air every other week beginning March 20. The web series ran on YouTube from 2011 to 2016, and the TV version previously aired in the U.K.
on All 4 and Channel 4 in 2022. Described as a "deeply unsettling" comedic puppet show — "Think The Muppet Show relocated to Twin Peaks" — the series was created by Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling. The creators said, "We are both thrilled to hear that Dropout is going to put our puppet show on their website.
They have assured us the episodes will be in full HD and have both sound and visuals in sync most of the time!" The deal is a three-year, non-exclusive licensing pact and marks Dropout’s first selective licensing move.
