DTF St. Louis Reveals an Unexpected Villain in Its First Episode
One episode into Steve Conrad's dark comedy miniseries DTF St. Louis, the pilot "Cornhole" establishes high stakes. Set in Twyla, Missouri, it follows two families and opens with everyone walking on eggshells. Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini and David Harbour lead a cast that lets silence carry as much weight as dialogue.
Clark Forrest, the smooth-talking weatherman, proposes a hookup app called DTF St. Louis and Floyd eventually agrees. Eight weeks later Floyd's lifeless body is found in a pool house, and police quickly focus on Clark — his flirtations with Carol and calculated maneuvers make him an obvious suspect.
Still, the episode nudges a less expected culprit into view. Linda Cardellini's Carol is quietly dangerous: she never sheds a tear after Floyd's death, takes a night job as a baseball umpire, avoids eye contact and mocks his hobbies. Her slow withdrawal from the marriage and willingness to participate in the affair render her manipulation subtle but effective, and the performance thrives on that ambiguity.
