The team behind Duet Night Abyss apologized for a "cybersecurity incident" on March 18 that left many players' PCs infected after an update to the game's launcher. Players who quarantined the infection found the malware identified as 'Trojan:MSIL/UmbralStealer.DG!MTB.' The Trojan is an infostealer that can record keystrokes and take screenshots, and it aims to harvest sensitive information such as passwords and cryptocurrency.

It appears to be an older threat and was identifiable by many anti-virus programs. The patch that distributed the virus went live on Steam at 7:39 am UTC on March 18. The developers said players will receive 'Commission Manual: Volume III*5, Prismatic Hourglass*10' as an apology — roughly ten free random skins — and that several "security enhancements" have been implemented.
