Duffer Brothers' sci-fi The Boroughs set for Netflix release in 2026
Movieweb reports that the Duffer Brothers' new sci‑fi series The Boroughs is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026.
The show is described as taking place in a retirement community in the New Mexico desert, where residents must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing time. The series stars Alfred Molina as Sam, Geena Davis as Renee, Alfre Woodard as Judy, Denis O’Hare as Wally, Clarke Peters as Art and Bill Pullman as Jack, and the full ensemble includes Jena Malone, Carlos Miranda, Seth Numrich and others. The Boroughs consists of eight episodes, which will presumably all drop at once on the streamer.
Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews serve as showrunners, with Matt and Ross Duffer credited as executive producers. In an interview with Collider, Alfre Woodard called the series "quirky" and "supernatural," and Movieweb notes the production filmed in Albuquerque for seven months from September 2024 into 2025.
Netflix has confirmed only the 2026 premiere year so far; a specific release date has not been provided in the report.
