Dune: Part Three Is an Action-Packed Thriller, Villeneuve Says
Denis Villeneuve returns for Dune: Part Three, adapting the events of Frank Herbert's Dune: Messiah. The filmmaker says the new entry will offer a slightly different tone, leaning more heavily into the inherent tension of the storyline. Villeneuve described it as "It’s a very different movie than the first ones.
It’s a good idea to come back to those world, not by nostalgia, but by urgency ... If the first movie was contemplation, a boy exploring a new world, and the second one is a war movie, this one is a thriller. It is action-packed and tense. More muscular." The first teaser only scratched the surface; if you thought Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides made some questionable decisions in the previous two films, you're in for quite the ride.
Other returning stars include Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and Florence Pugh. Anya Taylor-Joy will have a more substantial role in this sequel as Alia Atreides, and Jason Momoa will reprise his role of Duncan Idaho, despite his character being killed off in the first Dune.
