Nottingham Forest have sacked Edu Gaspar, bringing to an end his spell as the club's global director of football less than a year after he joined in July 2025. His time at the City Ground was turbulent, marked by a major turnover of first-team staff and significant investment that failed to produce consistent results on the pitch.

Tensions behind the scenes culminated in a formal instruction for the executive to stay away from both the City Ground and the club’s training facilities, suggesting a breakdown with the Forest hierarchy, including owner Vangelis Marinakis. Edu still carries an impressive CV, having played a key role at Corinthians during their 2012 Copa Libertadores triumph and the 2015 Brasileirao title, moved into a technical coordinator role with the Brazilian federation and contributed to the Selecao’s 2019 Copa America victory.

He then spent five years as Arsenal’s technical director, overseeing a transformation of the squad alongside Mikel Arteta before his move to Forest.
