Elder Scrolls 6 is Bethesda's main focus, Todd Howard says
Bethesda has announced Starfield will arrive on PlayStation 5 on April 7. Studio head and creative director Todd Howard added that most of the studio’s resources are currently focused on The Elder Scrolls 6. Howard described the studio’s process as beginning with a smaller pre-production team for two to three years to nail down direction, then growing the team to execute that vision.
He said the project has reached the stage where the bulk of the studio and many partners are working on it and the team knows what it’s doing. Builds of the game are reportedly in a healthier state than before, with more playable days and new content appearing regularly.
That progress doesn’t point to a release date, but it does suggest the title exists in a playable form beyond the title-card tease from 2018. On design, Howard invoked Oblivion and warned against systems that trap players in irreversible mistakes, praising the more open-ended approaches used in Skyrim and Starfield.
