Elecom Nestout 10000N power bank and Flash-1 lantern lasted through three-day blackout
ZDNET tested the Elecom Nestout 10000N 10,000mAh power bank together with the Nestout Flash-1 LED lantern and reported that the setup got the reviewer through a three-day snowstorm-induced blackout.
The Nestout 10000N houses a 36Wh battery in a polycarbonate shell and offers a 20W max output, an 18W max input USB-C port and a 12W max USB-A port. Its screw-down cap contributes to an IP67 rating, meaning it is dust-proof and can survive submersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes, and the base includes a 1/4-20 threaded adapter for a tripod.
The Flash-1 lantern screws to the top of the power bank, adjusts from about 30 lumens to 1,000 lumens, and changes color temperature from roughly 2,800K to 6,000K. It uses a USB-A connector and is rated IP44 for splash resistance; ZDNET noted run times between about 3 hours and 34 hours from a full 10,000mAh bank, and said a worst-case heat test showed the lamp reached roughly 107.6°F (42°C).
ZDNET concluded the pair builds on the brand's rugged design and called the 10000N and Flash-1 a strong platform for off-grid adventures or power outages. One charge of the 10000N was enough to run the light for the three-day outage while also keeping small devices charged; the 10000N retails for $55 and the Flash-1 for $45, and ZDNET said they may be overkill for users who never take gear beyond an office.
