Ella Purnell is the only Fallout lead who has played the games

Walton Goggins has not played the Fallout games and has said he will not. He continues to play The Ghoul on the show without familiarity with the series.

Aaron Moten, who plays Maximus and is known as a gamer, likewise chose not to play Fallout. Some cast members have suggested that experiencing the world as a game — as a bunch of polygons on a screen — could diminish it for them and affect their performances.
