Elle Fanning says she’s trying to stay more present in 2026 and teases Hunger Games role
People: At the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards in Palm Springs, Calif., Elle Fanning, 27, said she hopes to leave behind 2025 by "trying to stay more present," adding, "I think I'm a big dreamer...but then I can kind of think into the future too much and spiral, so I need to, like, live in the moment."
Fanning accepted the International Star Award at the festival on Jan. 3 for her ensemble work in Sentimental Value and described the film's strong audience reaction, saying "people have a very emotional response to this movie" and that some viewers reported reconnecting with parents after seeing it. The movie, which also stars Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgård, follows a woman who is forced to reconnect with her estranged father — a famous director — when he unexpectedly returns after the death of her mother.
She also offered a glimpse of her role as Effie Trinket in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, calling the world "so great" and noting she "got a little taste of some good costumes" and has "a lot of selfies on my phone." Fanning said being part of the upcoming films is especially exciting because she is a longtime fan of the original movies and of Panem.
