Elon Musk donated $10 million to a group supporting Nate Morris in the Republican primary to succeed Senator Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, the New York Times reported. The donation was described by a person briefed on the transaction who insisted on anonymity. The money went to a group backing Mr.
Morris, a Republican businessman and founder of a waste and recycling company who had been largely self-funding his campaign against Representative Andy Barr and Daniel Cameron. Axios earlier reported the contribution, and it is Mr. Musk’s largest disclosed gift of the 2026 midterm cycle, the Times said.
The gift is notable given Mr. Musk’s recent shifts in Republican politics. After spending hundreds of millions to help elect President Trump in 2024 and serving as an adviser, he had a midyear fallout with Mr. Trump, voiced harsh words about the Republican Party and made vague threats about starting a third party.
