A new documentary on Elvis Presley was released last week, and it has given the singer a long-awaited victory in his rivalry with Led Zeppelin. In the 1970s the two acts shared concert promoter Jerry Weintraub, and Presley—reluctant to give up his status as The King—took notice as the British group sold out stadiums and broke attendance records.

A veteran agent recalled Presley bringing up Led Zeppelin when venting to Weintraub, telling the promoter, "Well, I might not be Led Zeppelin, but I can still sell a few tickets!" (Weintraub, who went on to produce the "Ocean’s" franchise, died in 2015.) Fast forward to 2026 and Baz Luhrmann’s documentary "EPiC" has outperformed "Becoming Led Zeppelin" at the box office.

Neon’s "EPiC" stands at $15.5 million less than two weeks into its theatrical run, while Sony Pictures Classics’ "Becoming Led Zeppelin" earned $14.7 million over its theatrical life. Both films have done well for documentaries, but in a head-to-head comparison Elvis leads.
