Emilia Clarke’s Peacock Spy Series Ponies Earns 89% on Rotten Tomatoes
Movieweb reports that former Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke's new spy thriller Ponies has arrived on Peacock and has earned an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score from nine reviews at the time of writing.
Created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, Ponies is set in 1977 Moscow and follows two American Embassy secretaries who are thrust into the CIA after their husbands die under mysterious circumstances. The series, which co-stars Haley Lu Richardson alongside Clarke and features Nicholas Podany, Andrew Richardson, Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz and Vic Michaelis, carries a TV‑MA rating and drops all eight one‑hour episodes on January 15, 2026.
The Rotten Tomatoes tally includes a single "rotten" review from The Hollywood Reporter's Angie Han, who said the show's "moments of dazzle" are lessened because it lacks "enough depth to leave a lasting impression nor enough entertainment to make up for that," while positive notices cite the leads and storytelling: Trent Moore of The AV Club praised Clarke and Richardson's performances, CBR's Martin Carr noted an "undeniable depth to the storytelling," and Lissete Lanuza Saenz of Fangirlish called it a "smart, twisty but more or less steady spy thriller." With all episodes arriving at once on Peacock, the series will likely draw further attention over the coming days, and Clarke has indicated she is happy to be moving on from her association with dragons and fantasy.
