Eminem's longtime DJ, Lord Sear, dead at 52
Steve Watson, known professionally as Lord Sear, has died at the age of 52. His passing was announced on Sear’s Instagram page on Wednesday; no cause of death has been released. The tribute noted that Sear’s “legacy in hip-hop runs deep,” tracing his rise from a “proud member of the CM family” and working alongside Kurious in the early 1990s to his connection with the Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito radio show in New York.
He toured with Eminem on the Anger Management Tour in the early 2000s and served as a host and DJ on Eminem’s Shade 45 SiriusXM channel from its launch in 2004 until his death. Eminem posted that “Sear was one of the greatest people to be around, I will never forget how he made me laugh on our tour together,” adding that their time on Shade 45 was “always some of my favorite interviews.” SiriusXM said a tribute will run on Shade 45 (Ch.
45) from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, when friends will share memories and celebrate his life.
