Emma Stone told Rolling Stone she does not have an Instagram account and avoids the platform for reasons she described as related to her mental health, calling herself "such a lurker." The comments came as she discussed a black-and-white Squarespace commercial she made with Bugonia director Yorgos Lanthimos that will air during the Super Bowl.

Stone said she actually acquired her own domain while working on the ad and that Squarespace handled details she had not anticipated, which she said helped the commercial work as intended. She also said she subscribes to multiple Substack newsletters and spends a lot of money on the platform, reading fashion content, creative writing and some gossipy material.

Stone described an early interest in building sites on services like Angelfire and GeoCities and being a longtime blog reader, including LiveJournal.
