Episode 3 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, titled "The Squire," marks the season’s midpoint and ends with a major reveal: Egg is Aegon Targaryen, and Dunk finally confronts Prince Aerion Targaryen. The hour opens on Egg taking his squiring duties seriously — training Dunk’s warhorse Thunder, practicing with oversized weapons, and learning sewing and other squire tasks from Dunk.

Their bond deepens through shared moments at the tourney, with Dunk complimenting Egg’s work even as he stops short of promising to take him along after the event. Backstage schemes and savagery punctuate the day. Plummer offers to rig Dunk’s joust for Lord Ashford’s bets, but Dunk refuses on principle.

Prince Aerion later cheats, aiming a lance at a horse to win and sparking a riot; a fortune-teller predicts Dunk will be richer than a Lannister while telling Egg he will be king and those who know him will celebrate his death. After a conversation with Raymun Fossoway that even references Aemon from Game of Thrones, Aerion attacks performer Tanselle.

Dunk rushes in to defend her and is held back, prompting Egg to intervene — then reveal himself as Aegon Targaryen, one of Maekar’s missing sons, and order the knights to stand down.
