Epstein files prompt resignations and probes worldwide
Disclosures in nearly three million pages of Justice Department documents have prompted resignations and investigations from Scandinavia to South Asia. Jack Lang said he would resign as head of the Arab World Institute after French authorities said they were investigating reports that he and his family had financial links to Jeffrey Epstein.
Mona Juul quit after disclosures of financial dealings between her and her husband and Mr. Epstein, and Miroslav Lajcak stepped down after emails in which the two men appeared to banter about young women. Mr. Lang's name appears more than 600 times in the files, with emails chronicling lunches, dinners and business deals dating back to 2012, when he said he was introduced to Mr.
Epstein by Woody Allen. France’s National Financial Prosecutor’s Office opened a preliminary investigation of Mr. Lang and his daughter for "laundering of tax fraud proceeds," and reporting said Mr. Epstein jointly owned an offshore fund with Lang’s daughter Caroline and left her $5 million in his will.
