Eric Dane's family 'saddened' by Oscars In Memoriam omission
Eric Dane’s family said they were "saddened" that he was excluded from the "In Memoriam" tribute at the 2026 Oscars. A source close to his ex-wife Rebecca Gayheart told TMZ that while they were down, they did understand "it was a year of profound loss for the industry." An Academy insider said there was "no ill intent" and that the omission was due to a lack of airtime.
The Academy has posted all of the fallen stars on its "In Memoriam" page, and TMZ was told Dane's family took comfort in knowing he is honored there. Dane, the "Grey's Anatomy" alum, died on Feb. 19 while battling ALS. He shared daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, with Gayheart, and first announced his diagnosis in April 2025.
Other notable figures were also left out of the televised segment, including James Van Der Beek, Brigitte Bardot, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Robert Carradine.
