Even as a Marvel Fan, I Think These 8 Projects Are Objectively Bad

Loving Marvel doesn't mean loving everything Marvel puts out. Being a longtime admirer often makes the disappointments sting harder, because you can see exactly what could have worked. The projects below aren't listed out of spite; each represents a breakdown somewhere in the process.

Common failings include wasted potential, tonal confusion, rushed execution, or a fundamental misunderstanding of what made the characters compelling. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania chases epic spectacle at the cost of the series' small-scale charm, while Thor: Love and Thunder leans so hard into jokes that its emotional beats are shortchanged.

Other missteps are equally familiar: Kraven the Hunter never clarifies its point of view, Madame Web delivers tonal whiplash and stilted dialogue, and Marvel's Inhumans feels rushed and visually cheap. Morbius comes off lifeless and stitched from tired tropes, and Dark Phoenix repeats franchise mistakes without earning Jean Grey's descent.
