After a quiet start to 2026, Apple accelerated hardware releases ahead of its "special Apple Experience" on March 4, with in-person sessions in New York, London and Shanghai at 9am EST. A teaser from Tim Cook raised expectations for new Macs, and on March 2 Apple posted press releases for the iPhone 17e, M4 iPad Air, and M5 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

The MacBook Pro line received M5 Pro and M5 Max chips built on Apple’s Fusion architecture, combining CPU, GPU and Neural Engine on a single system on a chip with up to an 18-core CPU, faster graphics and improved AI performance. The models add Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thunderbolt 5, faster SSDs and higher memory ceilings — up to 64GB on M5 Pro and 128GB on M5 Max — with prices starting at $2,199 for the 14‑inch M5 Pro and $3,599 for the 14‑inch M5 Max; preorders begin March 4 and availability starts March 11.
