Everyone’s Falling In Love With Picking Up Cats In Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert divides players, but one feature has earned near-universal affection: the ability to pick up cats. The game lets you pet dogs, sure, but it also gives felines center stage, answering the long-standing question of whether games will let you fuss over kitties as well as pooches.
Gruff ol’ protagonist Kliff and his mumbly Scottish brogue belie the animal-loving cutie-pie that lies within. You can’t pet the donkeys, but you can stop and stroke pups, and one of the first mini-side-quests has a little girl asking you to rescue her cat Jiji from a roof—Kliff climbs up, picks the cat up, and returns it.
He’ll carry a cat around until circumstances force him to put it down; the kitty will patter about and mewl until you scoop it back up. Steam reviews reflect the delight: “I got to the first town, and was walking around greeting everyone, noticed the village cat,” reads one review on Steam.
