Xbox Project Helix has been officially confirmed. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced on X that a next-generation console, codenamed Project Helix, is in development as a follow-up to the Xbox Series X and S, and she says it will be able to play both Xbox and PC games.

Many core details remain unknown, including the console’s final name, release timing and whether it will carry the Xbox moniker. Hardware availability could shape Project Helix’s timeline. An ongoing RAM supply crisis—driven in part by AI data centers hoarding memory and storage—makes sourcing components difficult, and the write-up notes Project Helix would likely need at least 16GB of GDDR5 or above to “lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games.” A Bloomberg report has also suggested Sony may delay its next-gen PS6 to 2028 or 2029, highlighting broader industry strain.

Price and platform details are still open questions.
