Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss’s open-world RPG, launches on March 19 for Windows, MacOS, the Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. The game is priced at $69.99/£54.99. Physical discs are time-locked and cannot be played until the official release times of 6 pm EST and 10 pm GMT.

Originally conceived as an online prequel to Black Desert Online, the project evolved into a standalone single-player title set in a separate universe. Built on Pearl Abyss’s new BlackSpace engine, Crimson Desert is an open-world action RPG that leans into combat while retaining single-player staples like NPC dialogue, quests and gear; previews have compared its feel to Dragon’s Dogma.

The narrative unfolds in the land of Pywel and follows Kliff, a gruff survivor of an ambush on his Greymane mercenary clan by the Black Bears, as he seeks to rebuild and find other survivors. You also play as Oongka, an Orc-like bruiser, and Damiane, a more agile fighter.
