Qiddiya has taken full ownership of Evo, the long-running fighting game tournament. The move follows last year’s acquisition of Evo co-owner RTS, which had been sharing ownership with Indian esports organisation NODWIN after NODWIN relieved Sony of its co-ownership in September.

In a blog post on Evo’s site, the organisers said they still intend to run their three major tournaments this year—Evo Japan in May, the main event in America in June, and the newest addition Evo France in October—and pledged that "under RTS ownership, Evo's traditions, values, and identity will remain unchanged." The post added that key leadership will remain in place, including Stuart Saw in his role as Chief Executive Officer at RTS, and that the ownership aligns Evo with Qiddiya’s broader vision for gaming and esports, including plans for a mega esports district with four arenas.

Reaction online has been largely negative, with a Reddit post announcing the change met by comments urging a return to grassroots events and some declaring "Evo is dead.
