Ex-Overwatch dev reveals new game: The Legend of California

The Legend of California is an indie multiplayer action-survival FPS from developer Kintsugiyama, led by Jeff Kaplan. Kaplan, known for his work on World of Warcraft and as Overwatch's lead game director, departed Blizzard in 2021; comments on the game's teaser trailer show continued support from his longtime fans.

The Western-themed multiplayer is set on a mythical island called California during a gold rush era. Players can craft, gather, hunt, fight and build across the island, creating communities alone or with friends. The trailer shows gunfights and mining for resources to build homesteads, giving the game a feel likened to a mix of the Red Dead Redemption and Mafia series.

On their official website, Kintsugiyama said, "We formed our team around a single passion project: The Legend of California.
